Many young students read books every day and never give a second thought to what it takes to turn a story into a book. I would like to come to your school and show the students how the process works. I have many visual aids such as the first drawing of the book covers, to the different steps of the manuscript. I keep my presentation short and humorous with plenty of information to keep everyone interested. AR tests have been created for both books and they have a Lexile rating of L750.
There is no fee for me to visit your school. The books normally sell for 8.95, but I sell them for 8.00 in the schools simply to get as many students interested in reading as possible.
Visit the Student page to see pictures of past presentations, and letters and drawings from students.
Please leave a comment or email me if you have any questions, or to schedule a time for me to visit your school.
Thank you,

My Jeffery Lamb Review
Mrs. Kirkland
Jeffery Lamb has become an important part of our writing teaching. He has visited my classroom for two years, and each time he provides a wonderful resource for my students. The resource that he provides is the practical application of the writing process that they are asked to learn and master in the fourth grade. He has a wonderful sense of humor that the children appreciate and feel comfortable around. He gives them the proof that being able to make goals for yourself and to believe in yourself pays off. Mr. Lamb refers to himself as “the least likely” to become a publisher author, but through perseverance and hard work he did it. He compares his goal to one the children can make with getting a new pair of Nikes.
The best part about having Jeffery Lamb come to our classrooms is that the children get to read his books. We have had other authors visit, but none that the children could experience through reading their books. He makes the books affordable so any child could purchase one. He also uses local geography and his “twisted” humor in his stories. The children really enjoy him and his books. I am not sure which comes first, but they both exist.
The final point that I have about my students being able to meet an author they have read is that it helps to develop a love for literature. The connections that my students are making with this author will grow onto other authors they can become excited about and go to book signings and author talks. Jeffery Lamb starts that journey of loving literature through knowing the author for my students.
Sincerely,
Susie Kirkland

Thanks for your prompt response. I’ve already bookmarked the website.
All of my homeroom Reading students are classified below grade level. Their passing the Accelerated Reader (AR) test on Save the Gator Queen is a testament that it sparked their interest. I hope it continues to motivate them to read more books and other types of literature.

Hello,
Mrs. Allegar developed an Accelerated Reader (AR) test for your book, Save the Gator Queen. I read the book aloud to my 8th grade homeroom students. They have all tested on the book and earned AR points. They really enjoyed it. Due to its suspenseful nature, I had to begin reading 2 chapters per day.
When you visited our campus, you gave us the name of an online company that published your book. If you don’t mind, please send me that information.

The kids really enjoyed seeing Jeffery Lamb speak. The 4th graders had spent a lot of time publishing their own books so it was good to see all the stages of publishing. Mr. Lamb brought in different “stages” of his book to show the children how much time and effort it really takes to write and publish a book.
He had a very warm and caring attitude and was so patient while signing all the kids’ books. His talk really reinforced the writing process.
Our students will be publishing a book again this year and we look forward to having Mr. Lamb come and speak again.

Jeffery,
Are you still doing school visits? The Villages Elementary of Lady Lake would love to have you visit again. You were such an excellent and entertaining speaker when you came before, and the fourth grade classes would appreciate another visit so much.
Please let me know if a visit might be possible in January or February of 2010.
Thank you very much,
Rita Ward
